The difference between works and works pedagogy

The main difference between works and works pedagogy is that

• the goal when working is making or a product at the end of the process, whereas
• work pedagogy is primarily about acquiring skills and only secondarily about the workpiece. The workpiece is created almost incidentally, but at the same time has a motivating and supportive effect.

Both in the pedagogy of work and in handicrafts - although the boundaries between these two terms are quite fluid - you experience a mental and practical overall process and learn how to use elementary tools when working with wood. But haptic perception is also important:

How does it feel?
How do different woods touch each other?
Is the work product smoother, lighter, heavier at the end of the process?

Along the way we learn to measure, test, compare, Circles, angles, centers of circles, right angles, the perpendicular, the Pythagorean theorem and much more. The integration into the process leads to competence in action through self-made experiences. Own limits and technical limits are recognized, decisions are made.

Concentrating on the workpiece allows your thoughts to calm down, when your hands move, the stress has a break. Work means relaxation.

A good work project should be well planned and considered in advance. The framework conditions have a great influence on a good success. Framework conditions are for example:

1. the respective target group (children, young people, adults - or also for yourself?)
   (e.g. age, interest, available time, previous knowledge, existing manual skills)
2. and the desired objective
   (e.g. just have fun, or personality development, orientation aid, Acquisition of skills (language, logic, judgment, social behavior, general scientific Basic education))
3. and very diverse influencing factors
   (e.g. work objects, locations, time quota, the tool that is available, etc.).

It should also be considered whether the desired objective can be achieved within the available time frame (and budget). Depending on the size of the project, a schedule can help.
